Frequently Questions

Q - I've never been to a recording studio before.
How does it all work?
A - First we will meet in the studio for a Pre-Production
meeting where we will discuss your project in full.
At this meeting you will find out more about
the recording process, see the facilities, hear some examples, discuss different services and rates & schedule your first session. This is also the chance for us to discuss the type of project you wish to accomplish.

Q - Is there a charge for this meeting?
A - No there is no charge for the Pre-Production meeting.
An Appointment however is required so as not to conflict with other bookings.

Q - If I schedule a session at the Pre-Production meeting will I be required to make a down payment or pay anything up front?
A -
If we schedule a session for you at the Pre-Production meeting then all we need is the scheduling fee up front to lock in the date. You will be required to pay half down minus the scheduling fee at the beginning of your 1st session. Of course if you want to pay half down at the meeting this is ok as well.

Q - Can you work out different payment agreements?
A -
Yes! We will try to accommodate you the client with a reasonable payment plan if needed.

Q - Do you give discounts to students or churches?
A -
Yes! Every situation is different please call to discuss.
We also run special discounted services throughout the year.

Q - Will I be required to sign a contract?
A -
If you are going to do a Demo or long term CD project you will need to sing a contract which states the payment terms, hours/sessions, liabilities and any copyright disclosures.  You will be able to view the contract at the Pre-Production Meeting. It is always good to establish ground rules such as rates, liabilities and any licensing issues  before starting a project.

Q - I write my own songs, am I giving up any Copyright ownership rights by signing this contract?
A -
No! We are recording studio not a Publisher or Label, you are the copyright owner and retain all rights.

Q - Do you have any instruments or should I bring my own?
A -
We recommend that you bring your own instruments.
What we do have is a 5 piece drum kit with kick, snare,
high tom, mid tom, floor tom 2 cymbal stands and hi-hats. Drummers should bring their own cymbals, hats
and snare. If your drummer has an electronic kit we have some of the top sampled kits around, or we can replace the sounds from the acoustic kit with these as well.
For Piano we have an 88 weighted key controller
with some of the best sampled grand pianos technology
has to offer - Yamaha C7, Bösendorfer 290 Imperial and Steinway D Pianos.

Q - What is Tracking?
A -
Tracking is the actual recording process which
we record each instrument or vocal part to it's own track
either in mono or stereo to be latter mixed together to one stereo file.

Q - What is Mixing?
A -
Mixing is the process where we adjust and balance
the tone and volume of each track into one stereo file.
During this process we will also perform any editing
to correct pitch and timings, add fades and fix any
minor issues.

Q - What is Mastering?
A -
Mastering is the final process which prepares all the songs for CD. This involves tonal and volume balancing across the entire CD, matching volume levels to compete in the commercial market, and make sure that the CD is relatively portable... (plays well on different types of cd playing systems).

Q - How do I get started or what if I have any other questions?
